No New Ideas Available

So Chuck was complaining about how tedious it was to use his Sonicare toothbrush for the full 2 minutes, and I suggested that they should use 2 minutes of music instead of the beeps. Well, Google informs me that musical toothbrushes are already out there. This always happens when I get a marketable idea. For instance, Alpha Bitch. There's a cute play on "alpha male." Too late; somebody is already selling Alpha Bitch tee shirts. Catmosphere. Somebody did a so-named series of paintings. Snivelization. A song.

Here's a retro-style apron I made Julie for her birthday. The fabric is from a swell site called Reprodepot.

I Turn 53

Steve brought his friend Paul, who graduated from Rice in 1979. I graduated in 1977. Small world. The hopping lederhosen presided over my segue into year 53.

My kitty is sleeping on the couch and making a nice pattern at the same time.

The Persuasive Power of Rhyme

N-o spells "no" was my first spelling lesson in Kindergarten. After recess, as we lined up to return to our desks, some of the kids had a short, but lively, discussion of the morning's lesson. One clever boy extrapolated from N-o spells "no" to N-s spells "yes." Several of his friends echoed his conclusion. Of course! N-s spells "yes." The logic was unimpeachable, but not to my mother, who tried unsuccessfully to convince me it was wrong. That's what we learned in school! I said.

Health Warning in Iambic Pentameter

Beware the wicked Norwalk virus, scourge
that lurks in lavatories, demon-germ
that leaps from dirty hands to mouth. It stirs
the belly fires and starts eruptions. Be
aware that washing hands can save your gut.
