More Walter Keaneiana
Knowing of my obsession with Walter Keane, Rosemary found me a pack of old big-eye greeting cards.

An Early Birthday Party
Sue has a party for me at her digs! We had cheese; olives; little toasts with bean spread, avocado, and salmon; baked pasta with spinach and mushrooms; salad with carrots, chickpeas, and avocado; and lemon meringue pie.

Dave makes me a Fitzgerald.
Rosemary got me a present: The Second Book of General Ignorance.

Real Life
Whenever I see a movie "based on true events," I need to check out what were the true events and what were the made-up events. I don't fault the movies for making the stories more interesting or filling in blanks. I just like to know. For some reason, I became fascinated with the real life of Walter Keane after seeing Big Eyes. I sought out the 1965 Life Magazine interview of him and decided that, far from exaggerating his character in the movie, the Big Eyes people may have actually toned it down. Here is a picture from the Life Archives of Keane dancing with an unidentified woman. I colorized it a bit.
