Chuck, We threw our coins in to assure our return to Rome.

Oh! I've never seen the movie and the song says the point is to grant the romantic wish of only one of three participants in the ritual. But then Wikipedia says the song was written by folks who weren't given the opportunity to see the movie so maybe the song doesn't reflect the point of the coin toss.

That's a lot of coins being thrown. What a mess to clean up. I hope they collect more than it costs to do the collecting.

Chuck, Wikipedia also says: "An estimated 3,000 euros are thrown into the fountain each day.[10] The money has been used to subsidize a supermarket for Rome's needy.[10] However, there are regular attempts to steal coins from the fountain.[10][11][12]" At the current rate of exchange, that's about $5,000.
